Ingredients, allergies and product queries:
Most of our products are quite complex blends with about 15–20 ingredients—many in tiny amounts, but all essential to creating our bold, unique flavours.
The most common questions we get are:
Yes! All our blends are gluten free. Always have been, always will be. Richard (our founder) is coeliac, so we don’t mess around. No gluten, no cross-contamination, no compromises.
Our Wild Salt Rocks is the only product with no onion and no garlic, the rest of our salt rocks range is onion free but does contain garlic.
We totally understand how important this is. While we can’t share our full recipes (gotta keep some secrets!), we’re more than happy to answer any specific questions.
If there’s an ingredient you need to avoid, just let us know — we’ll confirm whether or not it’s in the product you’re looking at.
When we say “herbs and spices” on a label, we really mean just that: real, standard herbs and spices. No fillers, no hidden nasties. And we list them all on the product page.
Where we mention herbs and spices, we are predominantly talking about these fellows, often just a smidgen or a trace, but enough to add some complexity and depth to our blends.
Allspice, bay leaf, cardamom, celery seeds, cloves, ginger, mace, mustard, nutmeg, paprika, pepper, thyme.
We also use (across various products):
Coriander, chives, pink/black/white/green peppercorns, tarragon, basil, oregano, sumac, mint, parsley, rosemary, cinnamon, cumin & turmeric.
If you’re unsure — just ask. We're more than happy to help make sure you’re safe & sorted.
You bet. Just herbs, spices, sea salt & flavour wizardry. No sneaky animal bits here.
G3Baker bread mix, does contain egg white; sorry - it just wasnt coming out rght without it!
Not quite—but it performs just as well (if not better) for most uses.
Our Pitmaster’s Koshering Salt is a specific grain size of New Zealand sea salt—coarse, clean, and perfect for seasoning meat or BBQ prep. It’s already certified kosher when we receive it, and we don’t process or alter it in any way that would change that.
Unlike some American brands, which are often a flaky-style salt shaped to that brand’s preference, ours is a cubic grain, not a flake. That said, it works beautifully for dry brining, koshering meat, or any serious pitmaster duties.
All our products are also vegan, so there’s no risk of cross-contamination at our facility.
👉 If you’re specifically after an NZ-made flaky sea salt, check out Marlborough Flaky Sea Salt—you can usually find it at most supermarkets.
